Hawzah News Agency- The senior Iranian cleric, who serves as director of Iran's Islamic seminaries, used his keynote address at Saturday's opening session to denounce certain regional states for aligning themselves with the Israeli prime minister, stating their positions serve the interests of occupiers.
"Tehran will continue backing the Palestinian cause to counter hostile projects targeting the region," Ayatollah Arafi told delegates gathered in the holy Iraqi city.
The conference brought together Arab and international figures to examine the role of media and narrative-building in supporting Palestine, drawing inspiration from the principles of Imam Hussein's (PBUH) uprising against tyranny.
Ayatollah Arafi urged the United Nations to formally recognize "the right to resistance" and the "Axis of Resistance," while affirming the Palestinian nation's right to hold a general referendum for self-determination. He categorically rejected the "Deal of the Century" and called for its defeat through all available means.
The senior cleric demanded a complete severance of economic, commercial, and cultural ties with the Zionist regime, comprehensive boycott of Israeli products throughout the Muslim world, and the closure of Israeli embassies in respective countries. He stressed prioritizing counter-occupation efforts and providing financial support to resistance movements in Palestine and Lebanon.
Hassan Rashid Jawad al-Abayiji, custodian of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, said the conference is grounded in Imam Hussein's principles of reform and opposition to tyranny, describing Palestine as an extension of this eternal message against oppression.
Abdul Latif al-Haj, general coordinator of the Global Campaign for Return to Palestine, highlighted how the cries of Gazan men, women, and children have reverberated through street gatherings, university campuses, and squares worldwide demanding an end to genocide and the liberation of Palestinian land and people.
Sayyed Abdul Qadir al-Hassani al-Alousi, head of the Rabat Mohammadi Scholars Council, warned that normalization with "an aggressive, occupying enemy" constitutes a grave betrayal of Palestine, emphasizing that Al-Aqsa Mosque remains the axis of the struggle between truth and falsehood.
Former Lebanese Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour stressed that no peace will exist in the region so long as occupation continues, calling for unified efforts among politicians, intellectuals, media professionals, and activists to counter disinformation campaigns run by pro-Israel lobby institutions.
Representing Iraq's Grand Mufti Sheikh Mahdi al-Sumaidaie, Sheikh Amer al-Bayati reaffirmed absolute rejection of normalization, vowing no retreat from "even an inch of Palestinian soil" and expressing confidence that Jerusalem's liberation is near.
